About Susan Switzer

Classical Art Instructor & Professional Artist

My Artistic Journey

I was a protégé of the Italian art master Roberto Lupetti. My love of art and training began at the age of 10, setting the foundation for a lifelong dedication to classical art techniques.

I have a B.A. in Art, 3 teaching credentials, and have taught art in several Adult schools. I have had a private art studio where I taught both children and adults for 30 years, nurturing countless artists along their creative journeys.

Special Education has also held a special place in my heart. I worked as a Special Education teacher for the San Mateo County Office of Education and a local school district. I will be conducting classes for adults with special needs here at the Peninsula Museum of Art.

Professional Experience

I have had my work shown in galleries in Carmel, have done and continue to do portraits for private commissions. A current passion is life drawing and I spend about 9 hours a week working from a model. I also go to Russian River with other artists to work on watercolor botanicals monthly.

I am enjoying teaching a Classical Approach to Art at the Peninsula Museum of Art. The students in both the children and adult classes are progressing beautifully.

In addition to teaching art classes, I also volunteer as a docent weekly at PMA and I love it!
